Hello gynecologist, have I had a miscarriage?

Patient's question:

Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: My last menstrual period was on October 5th. On October 21st, I had a outpatient surgery for a breast fibroid. On October 31st, I experienced a small amount of bleeding, which I thought was an early menstrual period. However, after a week, my period did not come. On November 4th, when I went to the hospital for a check-up, the results were positive, and I was diagnosed with early pregnancy. Since November 10th, every time I use the restroom, there is a small amount of brown or black-colored substance on the toilet paper, but there are no traces on the sanitary pad! I am asking the gynecological expert if I have had a miscarriage?
Current general condition: Since it is still early, the doctor has recommended that I rest at home and wait until next week to have a check-up. However, every time I use the restroom, it makes me anxious and worried. There is always some...

Doctor's answer:

The main symptoms of miscarriage are vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain. Vaginal bleeding occurs in miscarriages within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, when the villi separate from the decidua and blood sinuses open, leading to bleeding. Once the embryo is completely detached and expelled, uterine contractions stop the bleeding. In early miscarriages, vaginal bleeding accompanies the entire process. In late miscarriages, the placenta has already formed, and the miscarriage process is similar to preterm labor. The placenta is expelled after the fetus is delivered, usually with minimal bleeding. The characteristic is often abdominal pain before vaginal bleeding. During miscarriage, abdominal pain is like contractions, and after vaginal bleeding occurs in early miscarriage, the separation of the embryo and blood clots in the uterine cavity stimulate uterine contractions, causing intermittent lower abdominal pain. The characteristic is that vaginal bleeding often appears before abdominal pain. In late miscarriage, intermittent uterine contractions occur first, followed by placental detachment, so vaginal bleeding appears after abdominal pain. During miscarriage, the examination of the size of the uterus, cervical dilation, and membrane rupture varies depending on the gestational age and the process of miscarriage.
