What is a lower disease?

Patient's question:

What is a lower disease? Does it have any symptoms?

Doctor's answer:

Abnormal changes in the amount, color, quality, and taste of discharge, or accompanied by systemic or localized symptoms, are referred to as "Dai Xia Bing" (Dysfunctional Discharge). This condition can be seen in modern medical conditions such as vaginitis, cervical inflammation, pelvic inflammatory disease, premature ovarian failure, amenorrhea, infertility, and gynecological tumors, which cause an increase or decrease in discharge.
The term "Dai Xia" first appeared in the Nei Jing, while the term "Dai Xia Bing" first appeared in the Zhu Bu Bing Yuan Liao Lun. "Dai Xia" can be broadly or narrowly defined. Broadly, it refers to gynecological and obstetric diseases, as these conditions occur below the Dài Mài (), hence the name "Dai Xia." For example, the Jin Gui Yao Lue Xin Dian states: "Dai Xia refers to the area below the Dài Mài. In ancient times, when diseases of the meridians were classified, there were thirty-six types, all referred to as 'Dai Xia Bing,' not the red or white discharge mentioned today." Narrowly, "Dai Xia" includes physiological discharge and pathological discharge. Physiological discharge refers to a colorless, transparent, viscous, and odorless liquid that lubricates the vagina in normal women from puberty onwards. This liquid tends to increase in amount before and after menstruation, during the mid-cycle, and during pregnancy. This is a normal manifestation of the body's healthy kidney Qi, strong spleen Qi, unobstructed Ren Mài, and robust Dài Mài.
