Patient's question:
Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: When I am with my boyfriend, I am very afraid of getting pregnant. I want to know which kind of condom is good. When wearing it, it feels as if it's not worn at all. It's very comfortable. Please tell me.Doctor's answer:
Which type of condom is better?1. There is no clear regulation on condom product categories. Generally, based on the labeled width of the condom, they can be divided into three types: large, medium, and small.
2. Based on thickness, condoms can be categorized as regular, thin, and ultra-thin. The term "thickness" refers to the single-layer wall thickness of the condom, typically ranging from 0.04 to 0.07 millimeters, with the thinnest being 0.03 millimeters.
3. Condoms are cylindrical in shape and can be further classified as follows:
- A. Regular type (smooth or flat): The tip has a reservoir pouch, and the body is smooth.
- B. Tip-enlarged type.
- C. Constricting type: 1 to 4 constriction segments are made on the body of the condom.
4. Lubricated condoms are divided into silicone-based and water-based types depending on the lubricant.
5. Colored condoms. Condoms made of latex should be transparent, colorless, or light cream in color.
6. Scented condoms. In China, these were introduced in the early 1990s and are condoms infused with various fragrances, such as rose-scented or osmanthus-scented.
7. Medicinal condoms. These are called dual-protective, medicinal, or delayed-action condoms because they are coated with nonoxynol-9 spermicide, anti-inflammatory drugs, sex endurance agents, or erection aids, and are collectively referred to as medicinal condoms.
8. Based on the sealing packaging material, condoms are divided into simple and premium types. Simple condoms are packaged in plastic film, which has poor sealing and light-blocking properties; premium condoms are packaged in double-sided or single-sided aluminum foil, which offers ideal light-blocking and sealing performance.
