How to deal with boils on the labia?

Patient's question:

Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: Today, I felt some pain in my groin area while walking, and it was itchy. After I finished washing at night, I noticed a hard lump on my labia minora, resembling an abscess. The entire labia minora is swollen and much larger than the other side. What is this condition? What caused it? How should it be treated? It's very painful to walk now. Thank you, doctor!

Doctor's answer:

It could be folliculitis or inflamed sebaceous glands. Avoid spicy foods, follow a low-fat diet, apply erythromycin ointment, and try using hot water frequently. Do not squeeze, as it may easily lead to infection spread. Additionally, you can take a small amount of oral antibiotics. If it's just red, swollen, warm, and painful bumps without any systemic fever or other symptoms, it may heal on its own within a few days. If the boil is too large and contains pus, you can go to the hospital for incision and drainage under sterile conditions.
