Patient's question:
Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: I would like to ask, what surgical treatment is best for cervical erosion? How much does the coagulation knife surgery cost?Doctor's answer:
Hello: There are many treatment methods for cervical erosion, and appropriate choices can be made based on the degree of erosion. The main methods are as follows:(1)Medication: For small erosion areas with superficial inflammation, the following medication treatments can be used:
① 10–20% silver nitrate: Topically applied once a week, with 2–4 applications per course.
② Potassium permanganate: Applied locally after menstruation, followed by a repeat application after 1–2 months. When using these medications, caution must be exercised to prevent burns to the surrounding vaginal wall. Additionally, sterilization should be ensured during application to prevent reinfection.
(2)Physical Therapy: Used for larger erosion areas with deeper inflammatory infiltration.
① Electrocautery: A specially designed electrocautery is used to burn the eroded tissue, causing it to necrose and fall off. The treatment must reach a certain depth for effective results.
② Cryotherapy: A specialized rapid-freezing device is used to freeze and necrose the diseased tissue of the cervical erosion, causing it to fall off. Liquid nitrogen is commonly used as the cryogen, lowering the temperature of the cryoprobe to -196°C. The cryoprobe is placed on the surface of the cervix, causing the eroded tissue to freeze, necrose, and fall off, followed by the growth of new squamous epithelial tissue. One session is typically sufficient for healing. Generally, there are no adverse reactions, though some patients may experience mild dizziness or lower abdominal pain.
③ Laser Therapy: Carbon dioxide laser treatment is commonly used. A specially designed laser applicator is used to irradiate the eroded cervical tissue, causing it to carbonize, form a scab, and fall off, followed by the growth of new squamous epithelial tissue. One session is usually sufficient for healing. There is no special discomfort during the procedure, though some patients may experience bleeding when the scab falls off.
