What should I do if my period is abnormal in the first month after taking medication for an abortion?

Patient's question:

Hello
10.2 medication abortion. 10.17 was clean. 11.4 period came. It was black discharge. Only pads were needed. It wasn’t until 11.7 evening that the bleeding was heavy. 11.8-11.9 were the two days with the most normal period flow. Used 10 pads. But by 11.10, the bleeding was very light. It was clean by that afternoon.
I’m very anxious
Before, my period lasted 5-6 days. There was blood every day. But now, only 2 days had blood. The other 3 days were black, similar to discharge, and not much in quantity.
This is the first time since my abortion

Doctor's answer:

Generally, menstruation occurs about 40 days later. After a woman undergoes an abortion, hormonal changes in the body and damage to the endometrium during the surgery can lead to changes in menstruation for most women postoperatively. Some may experience an increase or decrease in menstrual flow, while others may have delayed menstruation, and various other conditions. If this occurs, menstruation will gradually return to normal after approximately 2-3 cycles. Continue to monitor the situation, and if menstrual abnormalities persist for a long time, it is recommended to visit a hospital for examination.
