How long does it usually take for menstruation to return after a miscarriage?

Patient's question:

I had a miscarriage on November 6th, and my period came back on the 21st. Is it ovulation bleeding, or what? I had a similar experience before, and the check-up said it was ovulation bleeding, nothing serious. But now it's happening again. Is it normal? How should I treat it? Thank you!
First follow-up question: The amount is not much, about one-third of a normal period. It's been 8 days and it's still not clean. What's going on?
Second follow-up question: Around the 6th or 7th.
Third follow-up question: How many days does it usually take to clean up?

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Based on the time of your miscarriage, it should not be considered normal menstruation. There is a possibility of ovulation bleeding. How is the amount of bleeding? Do you have any other discomfort? Was it confirmed that the miscarriage was complete at that time?
During the middle of the menstrual cycle, i.e., the ovulation period, due to a temporary decline in estrogen levels, the endometrium loses hormonal support, leading to partial shedding of the endometrium and resulting in regular vaginal bleeding, which is called ovulation bleeding. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is referred to as "intermenstrual bleeding."
Treatment
1. Western medicine treatment: Diethylstilbestrol 0.25–0.5 mg/day, starting 3 days before ovulation and stopping 2–3 days after the bleeding stops.
2. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment: Liuwei Dihuang Wan, Gujing Wan, and Xuefu Zhuyu Wan.
Prevention and Care
1. Pay attention to menstrual and postpartum health care, maintain external genital hygiene, and prevent pelvic infection.
2. Keep a calm mood and avoid excessive stress.
