Wondering if you are pregnant, how long after intercourse can you get an accurate result?

Patient's question:

Dear Doctor,
Hello! I would like to trouble you to ask, how long after intercourse should I use a pregnancy test to get an accurate result if I want to know if I am pregnant? If I had intercourse during the ovulation period in October, and before my period arrived in November (meaning I don’t yet know if I am pregnant), would having intercourse again affect the baby? (If I happen to get pregnant successfully)

Doctor's answer:

Generally, 14 days after sexual activity or 7 days after a delayed period, you can use early pregnancy tests or blood tests to check the six hormones of the sex hormone profile to see if they are higher than normal values. If they are significantly higher than normal values, it should be pregnancy. After pregnancy, rest more, avoid fatigue, and have regular follow-up check-ups. Around 42 days of pregnancy, early pregnancy symptoms may begin to appear, such as nausea, vomiting, picky eating, aversion to greasy food, fatigue, drowsiness, breast tenderness, etc. Some people may show symptoms earlier; others may have no obvious reactions.
