What is the difference between amblyopia and myopia

Patient's question:

Male, 8 years old, my child always says he can't see the blackboard clearly, and he says things have double vision. Later, it was found that he has mild strabismus. What is the difference between having mild amblyopia and myopia?

Doctor's answer:

Strabismus is a problem where there is no significant inflammatory changes in the eye, but the eye cells fail to develop properly. Strabismus cannot achieve a vision of 0.8 even with corrective lenses. Strabismus is sensitive to light and may cause squinting. It can also be inherited across generations. Myopia occurs when, during relaxation of the eye muscles, parallel light images form in front of the retina instead of falling on it. With corrective lenses, myopia can achieve a vision of 0.8 or better.
