Features: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a relatively common issue. Some children have been overly active since childhood, unable to concentrate, unwilling to listen, and unable to follow adults' instructions. Parents often feel their children are unruly and difficult to teach, even to the point where hitting and scolding have no effect. These children struggle to adapt to group living. When they start kindergarten, they cannot sit still for a moment, constantly wandering aimlessly, busy and restless, and they ignore teachers' guidance, doing as they please. During class, they lack focus, don't listen to the teacher, break classroom rules, shout uncontrollably, and sometimes bother other children, making it impossible for the teacher to teach. During playtime, they don't follow the rules, often fighting over toys or bullying peers. They are also restless during meals and sleep, spilling food everywhere and rolling around in bed. Teachers often report to parents that their children are unruly and unwilling to learn, but the children are not unintelligent—they just can't stay still or fit in, and they refuse to study hard. These children often cause great frustration and distress for their parents.
By the time they enter elementary school, their hyperactive behavior becomes even more apparent. They can't sit still in class, fidget constantly, and can only focus for a few minutes—or sometimes not at all. In class, they often annoy classmates, talk loudly, or leave their seats, disrupting order, earning the dislike of classmates and the anger of teachers, while the children themselves feel quite troubled. As soon as the dismissal bell rings, they burst out of the classroom like untamed horses, running wild, competing, fighting, and causing trouble, playing until they are drenched in sweat. It takes them a long time to settle down after class and focus on listening to the teacher.
Girls tend to be a bit quieter but still exhibit excessive fidgeting in class—playing with their hair, erasing (rubber), biting pencils, or chewing their nails. They are always busy, daydreaming, easily distracted, unable to absorb or remember what is taught, and struggle with learning from the beginning. Some children with high natural talent may manage to cope with simpler work in first or second grade, even achieving good results. However, as the workload and difficulty increase in third and fourth grade, they gradually find learning more challenging. Due to their struggles with distraction and hyperactivity, they gradually lose interest and patience in learning, and their grades decline, even to the point of failing or repeating a grade.
Why does a seemingly intelligent, lively, and adorable child always struggle with distraction, hyperactivity, unruliness, and a lack of interest in studying? Why can't they control their behavior, and why do their grades fluctuate or decline? Parents and teachers are truly confused and don't know what to do. Many parents believe their children are stubborn or lack discipline, thinking the children intentionally misbehave, so they resort to harsh methods, corporal punishment, hitting their children until they are bruised and bleeding, yet it yields no results. Some parents not only teach their children themselves but also hire private tutors, exhausting all their efforts and trying every possible method, with little improvement.
Many teachers often perceive ADHD children as mischievous and lacking discipline, frequently reporting to parents and demanding stricter control. Many parents hear that their children are doing poorly at school and feel anxious, angry, ashamed, and discouraged. Some parents and teachers notice that children are in such a state
