Features: This book is the "Listening Comprehension" volume of the "New College English Test Band 4 & 6 Exam Insight Series." Its content is divided into two main parts:
The first part is the "Theoretical Guidance" section. If the listening test is likened to a battle, the theoretical section aims to address the overall deployment before the battle, striving to be fully prepared, with only one thing missing. First, by analyzing the newly released "Teaching Requirements for College English Curriculum (Trial Edition)" by the Ministry of Education Higher Education Department, the necessity and inevitability of the reform of the College English Test Band 6 are understood. Then, the proposition requirements and design principles of the Band 6 exam are introduced in detail. By analyzing the historical evolution of the Band 6 exam types and comparing the differences between Band 4 and Band 6 listening tests horizontally, the sample questions introduced after the reform are analyzed, and a reasonable prediction of the future trends of Band 6 listening is made, aiming to provide directional guidance for candidates. It is worth mentioning that this section also attempts to uncover the patterns of sample questions from the perspective of question setters, summarizing the characteristics of correct and incorrect answers, with the hope of opening a new path for candidates to break free from the "mire" of listening. Subsequently, the general answer steps and techniques to be followed in listening exams are introduced holistically, and the question types and strategies are explained categorically. Finally, a post-exam preparation plan is proposed for reference.
The second part is the "Practice Drills" section, which includes 10 sets of mock tests. Each mock test strictly adheres to the "Teaching Requirements for College English Curriculum (Trial Edition)" issued by the Ministry of Education Higher Education Department in 2004 and follows the design principles of the National College English Test Band 6, striving to achieve "scientific, objective, and unified." They are structured to be consistent with the listening section of the reformed Band 6 exam, with similar length and content, for training purposes. As the saying goes, "the mistakes of the predecessors serve as a warning for the successors." To help candidates better grasp the latest direction and difficulty level of the exam, representative questions from recent actual exams are carefully included in the mock tests. If candidates can combine theoretical knowledge and diligently complete these exercises, they will undoubtedly benefit greatly.
The final part includes the listening recording transcripts and reference answers.
