What is good for babies with gastroenteritis to eat?

Patient's question:

I am a 52-year-old woman who recently noticed some issues with her child. After a check-up, it was discovered that she has an illness. Here are my questions: What should the baby eat if they have gastroenteritis?

Doctor's answer:

The baby is suffering from acute gastroenteritis, which is related to viral and bacterial infections. Mild symptoms include nausea and vomiting several times a day to over ten times, with egg-like soup-like stools, occasional milk leakage and dry retching, and mild abdominal pain. Severe symptoms include nausea and vomiting more than ten times a day, up to dozens of times, watery stools, dry retching, fever, grayish complexion, restlessness, and even dizziness and convulsions, along with symptoms such as dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. It is recommended to increase the frequency of diaper changes and extend the interval between changes, as well as to temporarily stop or adjust complementary foods. For bottle-fed infants, easily digestible foods such as dissolved milk and rice soup can be given temporarily, followed by gradually increasing the milk intake.
