Features: Mr. Liu Puqing (1900—1974), the first compiler of this set of standard practice books for regular script calligraphy in the styles of Ou, Yan, Liu, Su, Huang, Tang, and the structural practice book, was a distinguished printing and currency expert of the 20th century in China and a national senior engineer. He dedicated his life to the field of art printing and currency. Utilizing over a decade of his spare time, he studied the rules of writing regular script calligraphy efficiently and quickly based on the book theories of Chinese calligraphers. He combined the summarized calligraphy theory with representative examples from calligraphers in regular script and compiled and published the standard practice books for the Ou, Yan, and Liu styles, as well as the structural practice book for Liu-style regular script. After the [Cultural Revolution], his eldest daughter, Liu Lun, continued her father's legacy and compiled additional standard practice books for other calligraphic styles. Since their public release in 1962, this set of practice books has accumulated millions of copies in print and remains consistently popular among calligraphy enthusiasts and learners to this day.
