New Business English Real-Life Listening is divided into 18 units. Each unit consists of three parts: Part A, Part B, and Part C.
Part A includes a concise business news report or stock market summary.
Part B features a thematic news report, economic updates, or a weekly stock review.
Part C contains a thematic discussion, expert commentary, or investment advice, each accompanied by listening comprehension exercises.
In the earlier units of the book, the listening comprehension exercises focus on checking learners' ability to grasp numbers, key terms, and the general gist of the content. The question types primarily include vocabulary fill-in-the-blanks, multiple-choice, and true/false questions. In the later units, the complexity and difficulty of the exercises gradually increase to ensure learners achieve a more comprehensive, detailed, and accurate understanding of the listening material. The question types in these units are mainly information fill-in-the-blanks, open-ended questions, and summary responses.
For each unit, the corresponding listening material is accompanied by vocabulary, phrases, and special sentence structures, as well as annotations on background knowledge related to the topic.
Appendix 1 provides all the audio recordings and transcripts, as well as translations of difficult sentences. Appendix 2 offers reference answers to the exercises in each unit.
