Features: In recent ten years or more, the expansion of urban public facilities and the continuous upgrading of environmental demands by the real estate development industry have led to a sharp increase in the number of urban sculptures, with significant improvements in quality. In terms of themes, materials, and stylistic expression, they have nearly reached their peak. Numerous sculptures, rich in connotation, exquisite in technique, and embodying both national and regional characteristics, have become the main symbols of enterprises and regions. The importance of urban sculpture in urban construction is increasingly prominent, but there is still a lack of guidance in sculpture creation, design, and the interpretation of sculptures for appreciation. Most of the public merely regard sculptures as scenic spots. Therefore, it is necessary to educate and popularize, thereby improving people's aesthetic appreciation of sculpture art. In fact, regardless of the setting of a sculpture, its material, or the content it expresses, its artistic expression techniques fall into three main types: representational sculpture, abstract sculpture, and conceptual sculpture. These three types of sculpture evoke different artistic feelings, convey different ideological connotations, and produce different landscape effects, with varying levels of audience understanding. The only similarity is that they are all made of hard materials, three-dimensional man-made objects that express ideas and unique forms. Sculpture, like mathematics, physics, and chemistry courses, has both interconnected aspects and unique ones. This book collects numerous examples of outdoor landscape sculptures from around the world, organized according to the above three types. The focus of our compilation is to introduce basic knowledge beneficial to sculpture creation, design, and appreciation. The titles of works and the names of authors are not the primary focus of this book, and we hope for the understanding of the relevant authors. Only when the entire society has the knowledge and ability to understand sculpture will the works of our sculptors have audiences, markets, and development. We hope this book becomes a trusted guide and friend for those interested in urban sculpture, and a confidant for sculptors.
