Features: From an international perspective, with the rapid development of world urbanization and the significant increase in urbanization levels, research on urban agglomerations and urban systems planning has also gained increasing attention. Urban agglomeration theory posits that the basic unit of international economic competition in the 21st century is not enterprises or nations, but cities and even political structures. Since 1995, Western countries have developed the trend of "New Regionalism," emphasizing comprehensive, coordinated, and sustainable regional development. In terms of planning, this theory explores the intrinsic connections within economic, environmental, and social integrated systems, employs comprehensive and holistic planning methods at different geographical scales, and addresses the construction and operation of regional development management institutions to enhance regional competitiveness in the global economy. "New Regionalism" is a regional planning and development theory that emerged against the backdrop of rapid advancements in information technology, communication networks, economic globalization, and the widespread promotion of new international industrial division systems. It essentially represents the forefront of international regional planning research. Based on the development trends of international regional planning theory and China's actual conditions, we believe that the Yangtze River Delta regional planning should embody the following new concepts.
