Features: The subject Olympiads for primary and secondary schools (commonly referred to as subject Olympiads) are one of the most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competitions for primary and secondary school students in China. Subject Olympiads are inspired by and derived from international Olympiads such as the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), and the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO). These international subject competitions are highly influential among middle school students and attract millions of young students' aspirations and attention each year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their emphasis on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development. Based on years of careful research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Board of the Subject Olympiads for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of Olympiad books, including "Gold Medal Olympiads" and "Gold Medal Schools," covering seven subjects—mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information—with over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are arguably the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally, and are considered the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students. The purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiads" and "Gold Medal Schools" series are as follows:
High: Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means it is written in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means it is closely aligned with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements. It aims to cultivate interest, develop intelligence, and enhance abilities.
Accurate: Scientifically accurate and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive approach, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and detailed problem-solving methods.
Innovative: The questions selected are novel, unique, and engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiads and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
Refined: Carefully selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible yet achievable. The focus is on generalizing from specific examples and applying knowledge to different contexts; it emphasizes multi-solution, multi-transformation, and multi-question approaches, with an emphasis on training thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
Renowned: Gathered by famous teachers and collected from famous competitions. The Editorial Board of the Subject Olympiads for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited renowned professors from prestigious universities, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad gold medal coaches to co-author these books.
