Features: German composer Friedrich Burgmüller (1806—1874) created three piano works for children: Op. 100, Op. 10, and Op. 50. Among them, 25 pieces from Op. 100 are popular among beginners and commonly used. As exercises and etudes, he not only considered the technical training requirements but also emphasized musical expression. He titled each piece to inspire students' understanding and imagination of music. Therefore, when learning Burgmüller's etudes, technical training and musical expression should be given equal importance. Students studying Op. 100 should have a certain basic foundation in piano playing, such as mastering finger support and arm relaxation; having some independence and flexibility of fingers (not necessarily too fast); having learned three different techniques: staccato, legato, and jumping; and having some polyphonic training to enable both hands to play different dynamics, distinguishing melody from accompaniment, etc. It is a highly valuable technical exercise textbook.
