Features: The Guangzhou Metro Line 2 runs in a north-south direction, with a total length of 18.28 km, featuring 16 stations and one vehicle depot. It commenced trial operations on June 28, 2003, intersecting with the already operational Metro Line 1. The opening of Metro Line 2 marked the birth of a rail transit operation with domestically leading standards, as well as a milestone in the technological advancement of urban high-speed rail construction in China. On December 16, 2003, a appraisal committee composed of 5 academicians and 11 nationally renowned experts, under the auspices of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, appraised the technological achievement "Construction and Innovation of Guangzhou Metro Line 2." The appraisal concluded that the technical level of Metro Line 2 is at the forefront in China, approaching international advanced standards in overall terms, providing a successful model for the construction of urban high-speed rail in China and promoting the overall improvement and development of urban rail transit in the country. The Guangzhou Metro leverages its integrated management advantage of "construction for operation, operation for management, and management for benefits." During the construction of Metro Line 2, it overcame technical challenges such as platform (platform), overhead rigid suspension contact lines, full non-contact IC card automatic ticketing and inspection systems, and centralized cold supply for metro stations. The developed composite stratum shield tunneling technology and comprehensive rail vibration reduction technology filled domestic gaps, serving as a model for the construction of urban high-speed rail in China.
