Features: This collection is primarily composed of writings by my father after his retirement, with the main portion written after he turned 80. Although it does not encompass all of his academic activities, it reflects the social and historical changes he experienced, as well as the trajectory of his own artistic pursuits. From my father's writing activities, the 1950s was a relatively active period when he energetically engaged in translation, writing, and musical composition. After 1957, due to political reasons and the turmoil of the Cultural Revolution in the 1960s, he remained silent for 30 years, during which time he made little progress in his career during his prime years. After the 1980s, he devoted all his energy to teaching. During this time, the field of music underwent significant changes, with various new ideas, concepts, and technologies emerging, requiring a great deal of time to learn, assimilate, and absorb. The papers on compositional techniques and theory in this collection were mostly written after his retirement. For an octogenarian in his advanced years, completing such profound academic papers was no easy task. He spent a great deal of time and effort thinking about problems and analyzing musical scores.
