Features: The 21st century calls for attention to the wisdom of human life and morality, the wisdom to efficiently master knowledge and technology, the practical wisdom of "unity of knowledge and action," and the wisdom that promotes comprehensive, harmonious, and sustainable development. The "Declaration of Wisdom" for the 21st century warns us: "Teaching today's students with yesterday's knowledge to serve tomorrow" has become increasingly difficult. "Multiple Intelligences Theory," with the mission of developing human potential and enlightening human wisdom, states: If we can maximize the development of all human intelligences and combine them with ethics and morality, we can increase our chances of continuing to survive on Earth and contribute to global prosperity. Every child is a potential genius, though often expressed in different forms; education must achieve the greatest success in every individual; pre-university education must consider the diverse aspects and connotations of the new century; with the development of the post-industrial economy, relying solely on decontextualized learning to develop intelligence is no longer appropriate. "Teaching for Multiple Intelligences" and "Teaching with Multiple Intelligences" will help transform schools into a "Rainbow Spectrum" of learning environments, making teaching a place of multiple interactive and contextualized learning, effectively enhancing students' innovative spirit and practical abilities. Under the framework of China's educational reform, drawing on the Multiple Intelligences Theory for practical research will present a vibrant Chinese education to the world.
In this book, while providing an international perspective on the Multiple Intelligences Theory, the author voices the enthusiasm of its proponents and highlights its cross-cultural value. However, this praise does not deny the existence of opponents and indifference in these countries. Faced with these two entirely different viewpoints, we should recognize that, like any social science discipline, the global spread of the Multiple Intelligences Theory faces the issue of "theoretical transplantation."
