Features: This thesis primarily explains Weber's management philosophy from four aspects.
Part 1 primarily explains the theoretical sources of Weber's management philosophy. First, it introduces the theme of this thesis: Weber, not only as a world-renowned sociologist and management theorist but also as a management philosopher, possesses rich management philosophy thoughts, attempting to add a new dimension to the understanding of Weber. Next, it introduces the theoretical sources of Weber's management philosophy, mainly including German classical philosophy, which provides the core category of rationality in Weber's management philosophy; Comte's positivism, which made Weber notice the objectivity of social sciences and at the same time allowed Weber to organically combine metaphysical speculation philosophy with management theory; neo-Kantianism, which provided methodological sources; and Marxism, which served as the logical premise for Weber to establish management philosophy. That is to say, Weber answered how capitalism was established through the Protestant ethic by critically examining Marx's "economic determinism."
Part 2 primarily constructs the theoretical system of Weber's management philosophy based on his works. It includes basic theories of management philosophy, such as basic categories, basic principles, and basic theories; methodology of management philosophy, mainly including the doctrine of value neutrality, causation theory, ideal type theory, etc.; and philosophical analysis of bureaucracy, mainly through the philosophical analysis of bureaucracy, a typical example in Weber's management thought, to further strengthen the theoretical application of Weber's management philosophy. It constitutes the basic theoretical system of Weber's management philosophy and reflects the characteristics of Weber's management philosophy: from general to particular, from abstract to concrete.
Part 3 focuses on analyzing the influence of Weber's management philosophy. First, it compares Weber's charisma with Nietzsche's Zarathustra, explaining that both have postmodern tendencies. Next, it analyzes the influence of Weber on the Frankfurt School, especially Weber's influence on Habermas, to demonstrate Weber's impact on postmodern thought.
Part 4 analyzes the shortcomings of Weber's management philosophy, primarily from the theoretical system of Weber's management philosophy. It uses communicative practical materialism for critique, forming the logical conclusion of this thesis: the communicative management perspective. It briefly explains the meaning, characteristics, and significance of the communicative management perspective.
