Patient's question:
A girl is 3 years old this year, and gradually she doesn't feel well. I don't know what's wrong either; it seems she lacks energy.Question: What are the factors that cause bedwetting in children?
Doctor's answer:
Bedwetting is generally related to the following factors:1. Poor bladder control during the day, with symptoms such as urinary urgency, frequent urination, and an irresistible urge to urinate upon seeing or touching water. Prolonged holding of urine leads to noticeable lower abdominal discomfort. This indicates poor function of the bladder sphincter.
2. Excessive urine production at night, with reluctance to drink water. Even a small amount of water intake can trigger symptoms again. This condition is often caused by insufficient secretion of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) by the pituitary gland and kidney deficiency. Additional symptoms include fatigue and weakness in the limbs, poor daytime energy, irregular menstrual cycles, cold intolerance, and cold hands and feet.
3. Neuroendocrine dysfunction, such as urinating in dreams during daytime naps, waking up with a small amount of urine or wetting the bed. Emotional issues include being overly sensitive, timid, easily frustrated, and experiencing low self-esteem, social withdrawal, and irritability.
