Publish Date: 2006-03-01
Features: This book analyzes the relationship between post-war Japanese inter-firm competition and industrial competitiveness from both theoretical and historical perspectives. It examines the characteristics of inter-firm competition reflected in this relationship and, based on this foundation, proposes several solutions for the revitalization of the Japanese economy. To this end, the book sets the following two research questions:
First Question — What kinds of competitive structures or competitive patterns can be observed in the inter-firm competition that has taken place in key industries in post-war Japan? Why do such competitive structures or patterns arise, and how do they unfold in changing circumstances? The research subjects are the growth industries in sector X, the regulated industries in sector Y, and domestic industries, from which several case studies are selected.
Second Question — What impact do the competitive structures or competitive patterns observed in the aforementioned industries, along with their changes, have on the sustained growth or stagnation of the competitiveness of their respective industries?
