Features: Wang Fuzhi, styled Ernong, was a great Enlightenment thinker and patriotic figure from Hengyang, Hunan, during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. In his early years, he participated in the anti-Qing movement and followed the Ming Prince of Guizhou in Guangxi. When it became impossible to achieve anything, he retired to Shishanshan Mountain, burying himself in study, carrying his grief into eternity. His poem "A Brief Account of My Life" reads: "The Six Classics demand I open a new perspective; with seven feet of height, I beg heaven for a burial in life." This summarizes his life. He wrote hundreds of volumes of works, among which the most representative are The Yellow Book, Thoughts and Questions, Commentary on Zhangzi's Zhengmeng, Commentary on the Complete Works of the Four Books, Outer Commentary on the Book of Changes, and Explanations of the Book of Documents.
