Publish Date: 1994-10-01
Features: The third and fourth volumes of Myanmar are a continuation of the and volumes compiled by teachers such as Zhou Siqian, Zhang Tiying, and Chen Xuehua. Most of the text materials are selected from the New Myanmar textbook, the Junior High School Textbook, or other selected basic prose, all reviewed and approved by the Textbook Editing Committee of the Ministry of Education of the Union of Myanmar. A few (especially in the supplementary reading section) are translations from Chinese publications or books. The language, grammar, sentence structures, and other elements in the texts are carefully designed to be progressive, easy to understand, and real-life and social contexts. The themes are diverse and highly practical, covering various aspects such as social conditions, national culture, politics and economy, history and folklore, biographies, Sino-Myanmar friendship, industry and agriculture, and science and technology. The genres include narrative essays, life essays, folk tales, literary biographies, political commentaries, interviews and reports, and literary poems, among others. The third and fourth volumes combine both revised and newly selected materials, with a focus on increasing grammar and complex sentence annotations. The use of common words and their grammatical features are illustrated with different examples for detailed explanations or comparisons. Each volume consists of 16 lessons, and while some articles may not be timely, they still hold certain learning value from both linguistic and content perspectives.
