Mya - Star Moon Chronicle

Author: Frost Leaf
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-03-01
Features: Magicians, Knights, Elves; Fantasy Continent, Race Wars, RPG-style Characters, Scenes, and Plot. This is a theme that only the generation raised on anime and online games would be familiar with and skilled in, and it shows some influence from classic works like Record of Lodoss War or Galactic Heroes. Yet, it often gives the impression of being written by an author from the 1970s. Without the elaborate, emotionally charged, and atmospheric prose popular among post-80s authors and readers, and despite sprinkling in some cartoonish exaggeration or even parody, Frost Leaf's overall narrative style remains traditional, rigorous, and even, some might say, "old-fashioned." However, that is also a sense of being gently touched by something long past: a touch of gravity in the humor, a hint of sorrow in the warmth. Although the book is set in a fictional online game-style background, it reflects many reflections on human nature in the real world. The emotions are delicate, the writing elegant, smooth, yet not lacking in light humor. It doesn't resemble the difficult or unconventional style often seen in Chinese imitations of European fantasy novels.
He Yuan (author of Graduation Day We All Loved Each Other and Nothing But Fun) has evolved from short stories to novels, from novels to epic-length works, from vague ideas to a complete world, from a story of a single hero to a gallery of heroes, from nostalgia for the old era to rebirth in the new era. Here, many old-era sentiments that stir the heart come together to form a new song. In this song, one can faintly hear the voice of history.
Zhou Xingwen (author of Rebirth Legend and Ten Days, Eight Regions, Ten Thousand Demons) is a powerful mage who can wield magic without chanting, an genius capable of using powerful forbidden spells from legends, yet he must change his name and seek redemption in exile. What is rare is that the author doesn't make a thoughtful novel overly complex or profound. Instead, the entire book has a light and cheerful tone. The trivialities between Kalar and Mo Yu often bring laughter and add much charm to the story.
Sheng Zhenlei (author of China in Turmoil, Way of the Sword, and Spirit Gathering) Without the elaborate, emotionally charged, and atmospheric prose popular among post-80s authors and readers, and despite sprinkling in some cartoonish exaggeration or even parody, Frost Leaf's overall narrative style remains traditional, rigorous, and even, some might say, "old-fashioned." However, that is also a sense of being gently touched by something long past: a touch of gravity in the humor, a hint of sorrow in the warmth.
