Shanghai Township Old Records Series - (6)

Publish Date: 2005-01-01
Features: This album includes 254 old town records from various parts of the country. Among them, 47 belong to the area of present-day Shanghai, accounting for nearly one-fifth of the album. However, a number of important printed or manuscript copies were excluded for various reasons. Among those included, some versions are not of high quality, some omit valuable woodcuts or hand-drawn maps, and some even miss supplementary or marginal notes written by the compilers in the headers, footers, or other parts of the pages. Additionally, due to printing issues, many texts have unclear or faded handwriting, making reading difficult. Therefore, despite being the largest and most extensive collection of old town records at the time, it is still far from sufficient for research purposes.
