Features: The dialogue allows for relatively free exchanges, a method that is increasingly adopted by more and more academic builders. But for us young ones, we are more inclined to seek guidance from our teachers. The topics are all proposed by Teacher Yu based on the realities of language life and the current state of language research. If I were to say I am a host, I certainly have a strong sense of participation, but a weaker sense of control, largely relying on "expert guests." We all understand that this is Teacher Yu's way of nurturing young talent and building a team. Nurturing young talent and being willing to be a stepping stone, Teacher Yu, who grew up in the editorial department of Journal of Chinese Language, has often seen such role models. Today, Teacher Yu is using the same method to mentor us. But whether in academic foundation, work efficiency, or diligence, we are far inferior to him, making us feel quite uneasy? Team building and theoretical development are important components of the "emphasis on construction" in the cutting-edge issues of applied linguistics proposed by Teacher Yu. He requires our team to prioritize practice first. Many of us are engaged in language teaching on the front lines, though with different areas of expertise—some research broadcasting and hosting language, some specialize in news language, some are familiar with advertising language, and others come from the field of foreign language applied linguistics. Everyone starts by identifying problems in practice, then moves on to solving them and developing theories, before waiting to return to practice for testing. We also value theory deeply, fully aware of the urgency and rigor of theoretical construction in Chinese linguistics and applied linguistics. In our theoretical research, we have a distinct characteristic: we emphasize Eastern philosophy. The cosmology, cultural perspective, and ways of thinking in Eastern philosophy will profoundly influence us, permeating into our language perception and research methods.
