Publishing Date: 2006-03-01
Features: During the process of economic and social transformation, our moral construction faces significant challenges. There are unhealthy and uncivilized phenomena in real-life society. Some individuals are confused in thought, lack moral integrity, and are unable to distinguish right from wrong, good from evil, and beauty from ugliness. The rise and spread of materialism, hedonism, and extreme individualism have impacted the social moral system, damaged social atmosphere, and affected the healthy development of the economy. Educating young students to firmly establish the socialist concept of honor and shame, consciously cultivate good moral qualities such as "loving the motherland, serving the people, upholding science, working hard, fostering unity and mutual assistance, being honest and trustworthy, abiding by the law, and striving through hard work," and strive to cultivate qualified new builders of socialist construction in the new era, is the mission and responsibility of educators. In light of this purpose, we have compiled the "Student Reader of Socialist Honor and Shame Education."
This book is divided into 16 topics based on the content of "Eight Honors and Eight Shames," using typical cases and exemplary figures to demonstrate and reinforce the socialist concept of honor and shame. It also extracts small, frequently occurring, and easily achievable actions from the daily lives of middle school students, guiding them to firmly establish the socialist concept of honor and shame through profound yet accessible moral teachings and insights. At the beginning of each topic, there is an interpretation that provides a specific explanation of "Eight Honors and Eight Shames." Within the examples, there are thought-provoking questions to guide students in making correct judgments about right and wrong. At the end of each topic, there are various activity formats such as discussions, storytelling, and social surveys, making it convenient for teachers and students to use.
