[Preface] It is well-known that cerebrovascular diseases are a common condition that severely threatens human health today and are the leading cause of death and disability among middle-aged and elderly populations. Recent epidemiological surveys conducted in China have shown that there are currently 6 million people suffering from cerebrovascular diseases in the country, with approximately 1.5 million new cases each year and over 1 million deaths annually from cerebrovascular diseases, ranking second in the national disease mortality spectrum. Even among survivors, about two-thirds of patients will suffer from varying degrees of sequelae, such as limb paralysis, difficulty speaking, or slow reaction. With the rapid increase in the elderly population and the rise in the number of people with hypertension and diabetes, the incidence of cerebrovascular diseases is on the rise. Moreover, cerebrovascular diseases have a very high recurrence rate, and each recurrence can worsen existing symptoms and increase mortality rates. Cerebrovascular diseases not only affect the physical and mental health of patients but also impose a heavy burden on families and society. Therefore, the prevention and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases have become an important issue in world medicine.
With the advancement of science and technology, new drugs and treatment methods continue to emerge, and knowledge about the prevention and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases is constantly being updated. Numerous studies abroad have shown that if some known risk factors for cerebrovascular diseases are controlled, the incidence of these diseases can be significantly reduced. Early detection, timely treatment, scientific nursing, and rehabilitation of cerebrovascular diseases can also significantly reduce disability and mortality rates among patients. Therefore, popularizing knowledge about the prevention and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases and actively carrying out prevention and treatment work are highly meaningful.
To scientifically prevent and treat cerebrovascular diseases and enable grassroots communities and ordinary people to master correct knowledge about the prevention and treatment of these diseases, reduce risk factors, lower incidence rates, improve cure rates, and enhance the quality of life for patients, the authors have combined their years of clinical experience and referenced domestic and international information to compile the book "Diagnosis, Treatment, and Rehabilitation of Cerebrovascular Diseases." This book introduces the etiology and prevention of cerebrovascular diseases, their classification and clinical manifestations, auxiliary examinations, and treatment methods, presenting to readers the more mature knowledge and successful experiences in the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases in recent years. It also provides detailed answers to the concerns of patients and their families regarding family nursing and rehabilitation. The content of the book is rich, well-organized, easy to understand, concise, and practical. It is not only suitable for prevention and treatment education in grassroots communities, reference for grassroots physicians and medical college students but also for the outpatient nursing and rehabilitation of patients with cerebrovascular diseases and preventive health care.
