How to treat jaundice in babies properly

Patient's question:

20 weeks pregnant, I didn't know what would happen, later I found out I was sick. Please ask: How should jaundice in babies be treated properly

Doctor's answer:

In your case, it is considered newborn jaundice primarily due to an impairment in bilirubin metabolism. Normal physiological jaundice usually subsides around 14 days. Some breastfed newborns often have higher bilirubin concentrations compared to formula-fed infants, resulting in a longer duration of jaundice. This typically peaks around 7 to 8 days and may take 20 days or even longer to resolve. This type of jaundice is known as breast milk jaundice.
Newborns who develop this type of jaundice are generally in good condition and will not suffer brain damage. In most cases, no special intervention is needed. As long as the child is alert and feeding well, there is no need to be overly anxious. However, if the jaundice is particularly severe or if the child's mental state is poor, it may be necessary to consider pathological jaundice.
