Stick to Your Dreams
The most sacred genetic factor of humans is the power of dreaming. As long as you hold a dream in your heart and believe that a better tomorrow will come, success will eventually arrive. Some people think that dreams are only useful for artists, musicians, and poets, and have no place in the objective world. In reality, we should know that leaders in all fields are often those who have dreams and strive to achieve them—such as scientific giants, industrial magnates, and business tycoons, who are mostly successful individuals who dream and work toward their dreams.
In a primary school in the United States, a teacher gave her students an essay assignment titled: "My Ambition." One student loved the topic and quickly wrote down his dream on his notebook. He hoped to own a vast estate covering over ten hectares of land, filled with lush green grass. The estate would have numerous small cabins, a barbecue area, and a leisure resort. He wanted to live there himself and also share the estate with visitors who came to see it, providing them with a place to rest. After the teacher reviewed the essays, she put a big red "×" on the student's notebook and asked him to rewrite it. The student carefully checked his work and found no errors, so he took his notebook to ask the teacher for advice. The teacher told him, "I want you to write your actual ambitions, not these daydreams. I want realistic goals, not empty fantasies. Do you understand?" The student argued, "But this is truly my ambition!" The teacher insisted, "No, that's impossible. It's just a fantasy. Rewrite it." The student refused to compromise, saying, "I'm sure this is what I really want, and I don't want to change my dream." The teacher shook her head, "If you don't rewrite it, you won't pass. Think it over." The student refused to rewrite, and his essay received a big "E."
Thirty years later, the teacher took a group of primary school students on a trip to a beautiful resort. While enjoying the endless green grass, comfortable accommodations, and delicious barbecue, she saw a middle-aged man approach her, claiming to be one of her former students. The man told her that he was the same student who had failed his essay back then. Today, he owned this vast resort and had truly realized his childhood dream. Looking at the resort owner, the teacher remembered her past, and couldn't help but sigh, "Over the past 30 years, because of my own limitations, I've unknowingly crushed the dreams of so many students. But you are the only one who kept your dream and didn't let me change it."
The more we achieve our dreams, the stronger our abilities and effectiveness become. The realization of one person's dream often inspires a chain of new dreams and efforts. In the struggle to turn dreams into reality, we discover the hope of the world.
Don't hinder your dreams. Believe in and encourage your aspirations, and let them flourish.
