History of Western Legal Thought - (Second Edition)

Author: Gu Chunde, Editor-in-Chief

Publish Date: 2006-03-01
Features: Since its publication in 2000, this textbook has been widely welcomed by faculty and students across law schools in China. Based on reader feedback and the needs of teaching practice, we made necessary revisions to the textbook in early 2006. While maintaining the original system, structure, and content of the textbook, we added the legal thoughts of Polybius, Marsilius, Fichte, and Radbruch, among others. We also expanded on several sections, including the emergence and development of ancient Greek and Roman slave societies, the legal thought of Plato, the legal thought of Bentham and Austin, the legal thought of Savigny and Maine, the legal philosophy of Kant and Hegel, and the legal thought of Kelsen and Hart. Some formatting adjustments were made to make the content more comprehensive and reasonable. Additionally, we corrected the text and expressions in each chapter, addressed some inappropriate statements and typos, and improved the overall quality of the textbook.
