What is the effect of taking progesterone capsules for menstrual disorders?

Patient's question:

Irregular menstruation, periods lasting over two months without stopping, low menstrual flow (heaviest in October and November 2011, then continuously taking medication). I also have underdeveloped breasts, but I'm quite slim and tall.
Test results: Pubertal dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
Previous treatment and effectiveness: First tried Chinese medicine, which had no effect. Then took progesterone capsules, but stopped when taking them, and the periods returned when I stopped. Tried again, stopped again, but when I stopped taking the capsules, they returned again, and after just two days, I stopped again. This led to rapid weight gain. Currently taking Ejiao oral liquid and a soup made with tremella, red dates, and lotus seeds. Not sure if it's working.
Desired help: Is it really effective to take progesterone capsules? If it's not effective, what should I do? Will the weight gain disappear after stopping the medication? Is the underdeveloped breast development related to this?

Doctor's answer:

If the menstrual flow is excessive, it is not suitable to use herbs like Poria or Salvia miltiorrhiza. Instead, directly use tonifying kidney herbs, and only take them after the menstrual period has ended.
You might be taking progesterone medication and experiencing self-regulation issues with the entire hormone axis. Generally, when your period is delayed, you can use topical medication, such as anti-inflammatory drugs, to see if it can be applied.
After the menstrual period ends, use traditional Chinese medicine methods to nourish the kidney and regulate hormone levels. This process may take a longer time, as relying too much on artificial hormones can easily lead to dependence on external hormones.
