Hello, I haven't had a normal period for eight months after giving birth. What should I do?

Patient's question:

After giving birth eight months ago, my menstruation has been irregular. In the past two months, I've been experiencing irregular discharge. Hello, is it possible that the reason for my previous two months of examination was a fungal vaginal infection?

Doctor's answer:

(1) General treatment: Actively treat other diseases that can lead to candidal vulvovaginitis and completely eliminate susceptible factors. Maintain the cleanliness and dryness of the external genitalia, and prevent scratching. Sexual activity is strictly prohibited during treatment. Spicy and irritating foods should be avoided.
(2) Changing the vaginal pH: The optimal pH for Candida growth is 5.5. Therefore, using alkaline solutions to wash the external genitalia and vagina can alter the vaginal pH, thereby inhibiting the growth and adaptation of Candida. A 2%–4% baking soda solution can be used to wash the vagina once or twice daily, with 2 weeks constituting one course of treatment. After washing, the external genitalia should be dried to maintain dryness and inhibit the growth of Candida.
