Considering the scientificity, widespread use, and practicality of the five-line staff, as well as the fact that readers generally have some familiarity with simplified notation, this textbook does not adopt the method of comparing simplified notation and five-line staff, as some other textbooks do, but instead uses only the five-line staff as the basis for musical examples. Readers may find it challenging at first, but with persistent learning, all difficulties will gradually be resolved, as the first part of the book contains extensive basic knowledge of notation. Additionally, learners should note that understanding the text in the book does not equate to truly mastering the knowledge. To truly master the fundamentals of music theory, in addition to studying the chapters in a step-by-step manner as prescribed in the textbook, it is also necessary to diligently complete every exercise at the end of each chapter and to learn the content of each chapter in a broader sense, especially by repeatedly comparing concepts with similar names but different meanings. Only through solid study can one become proficient in music theory.
