UU culture positive, need help

Patient's question:

All symptoms: Currently no onset time or cause: Once during a business trip, had unsafe sex. Treatment history: Visited the doctor twice, now undergoing follow-up tests and still UU culture positive. Help needed: I urgently need help now.

Doctor's answer:

Generally refers to Mycoplasma infection. Mycoplasma is the smallest organism capable of independent survival, existing between bacteria and viruses and lacking a cell wall. The Mycoplasma that infects the human body are primarily Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum, with the most common being Mycoplasma hominis, which causes vaginitis, cervicitis, and salpingitis, while Ureaplasma urealyticum leads to non-gonococcal urethritis. The main mode of transmission is through sexual contact. Pregnant women infected with Mycoplasma are at risk of miscarriage, premature birth, or stillbirth. When Mycoplasma co-infects with other pathogens, the primary manifestations are non-gonococcal urethritis and other genital tract inflammatory conditions. Diagnosis is based on: Mycoplasma culture, serological monitoring, and PCR monitoring.
