What is choking suitable for newborns

Patient's question:

Female, 23 years old, after becoming a mother, choked while breastfeeding the child. Please ask:

Doctor's answer:

Choking occurs because, for example, when babies drink milk very eagerly, if the nipple hole on the bottle is too large during the early stages of infancy, the baby may drink too quickly, making it easy for milk to enter the trachea. This leads to severe coughing, which we call choking. Therefore, the first thing we must do is check the nipple hole on the bottle before changing the diaper each time. It should not be too large—drops should form on the surface instead of flowing continuously. Only then can the baby drink. Another instance is when breastfeeding is particularly urgent. In such cases, we should let the baby drink for a couple of seconds and then pull the nipple out.
