What should I do if a child has a cold and is nosebleeding?

Patient's question:

Our baby at home now, yesterday didn't know what was wrong, no signs, the baby suddenly had a nosebleed. Please ask what to do if a child with a cold has a nosebleed?

Doctor's answer:

It could be a cold causing severe nasal congestion, or it might be dryness leading to cracked skin. The best course of action is to immediately press both sides of the nose with your thumb and middle finger simultaneously, applying pressure to the cracked area to stop the bleeding. After about five minutes, release and see how to apply medication. If the bleeding persists, repeat the pressure on the nose for another five to ten minutes. In most cases, this should allow for medication application. If it doesn’t work, you’ll need to go to the emergency department immediately.
During treatment, the patient should follow a balanced diet, maintain a regular sleep schedule, actively engage in physical exercise, and focus on regulating physical and mental health. It’s also important to maintain personal hygiene and avoid bacterial infections due to weakened immunity.
