Features: Fundamentals of Artistic Cultivation is one of the art-related books written by Mr. Feng Zikai. The book was first published in Hong Kong in December 1946 and then released in mainland China by Cultural Supply Society in July of the following year. For this revision, commissioned by Hunan Literature and Art Press, the original 1946 December first edition published in Hong Kong was used as the reference. As more than half a century has passed since the first publication, a series of annotations and revisions have been made:
1. Correction of typographical errors;
2. Adding footnotes to the passages that were difficult to understand in the main text;
3. Deleting some outdated phrases;
4. Some illustrations have been redrawn, and one new piano keyboard illustration has been added;
5. Some professional symbols, terms, and expressions have been adjusted according to current standards;
6. Old translations in painting and music have been uniformly replaced with new ones.
For the convenience of readers, a newly compiled bilingual name list (Chinese and foreign) has been attached at the end of the main text. This detailed Fundamentals of Artistic Cultivation has long been out of print, but it remains a valuable art-related reference for today's readers.
