Floating World Copy - Selected Essays and Musings from a Decaying Wood

Features: Originally called "zawen" (satirical essays), later termed "sibu" (random essays), and now referred to as "shipei" (current affairs commentary); some call it literature, others news, or even "literary news." Mr. Lu Xun called it "the sensitive nerves and offensive/defensive limbs of society"; Mr. Li Dazhao called for "shouldering the righteousness with an iron shoulder and writing with a magic hand." I dare not claim to have a "magic hand," but a sense of justice is something I will never forget. The selections here are part of my essays, random essays, and current affairs commentaries published in the past five years. Five years have passed without a book. Looking back suddenly, a sense of vicissitudes fills my heart. Since the mid-1980s of the last century, I have fallen in love with essays and random essays, and I have never stopped writing—now adding "current affairs commentary." The spirit, vigor, and essence that run through these commentaries are not they the very continuation and promotion of the "Lu Xun style"? "Literary works are eternal, but only the author knows the gains and losses." I dare not claim to speak for others, but there is one thing I never forget: I will never write what goes against my conscience, and I will never say false or empty words. Perspectives may vary in depth, and writings may differ in elegance or simplicity, but "what is valued is courage, what is sought is the soul," and what is cherished is truth—this is my motto. In short, the "current affairs essays" I write are to preserve a piece of truth for history. Although, in this vast world, this may be just a fragment. Therefore, I name it: Floating World Copy.
