Patient's question:
The best method for treating leukoplakia of the vulva, how effective is focused ultrasound treatment for leukoplakia of the vulvaDoctor's answer:
For the treatment of leukoplakia, if it is not moderate or severe dysplasia, 0.5-1% testosterone propionate ointment or 0.45% hydrocortisone acetate ointment can be applied externally. Alternatively, 5 mg of prednisone acetate mixed with 20 mL of 0.25% procaine can be used for base closure in the affected area once a week, with 10 treatments constituting one course. Oral vitamin A, B, and E supplements, as well as traditional Chinese medicine herbs such as honeysuckle, cinnabar, Sophora flavescens, Epimedium, dictamnus, and white, can be decocted for internal consumption and external washing. Additionally, acupoint laser irradiation and cryotherapy can be considered for moderate and severe dysplasia, or for older patients who do not respond to the aforementioned treatments, surgical excision of the vulva may be an option.
