How is jaundice in children treated?

Patient's question:

Female, 26 years old, as a new mother, found her child had abnormalities, and later learned it was jaundice. Please ask: How will the child's jaundice be treated?

Doctor's answer:

Your baby has neonatal jaundice. Generally, the data obtained through transcutaneous measurement should be below 10. If blood is drawn to measure the level of bilirubin in the blood, the normal value is usually below 205 umol/l (12 mg/dl). For a normal infant at 30 days, the total bilirubin normal value is 1.7~17.1 umol/l (0.1~1.0 mg/dl). Direct bilirubin is 0~6.8 umol/l (0~0.4 mg/dl). Indirect bilirubin is 1.7~10.2 umol/l (0.1~0.6 mg/dl). Urine test is the only way to determine the actual level of bilirubin. Because transcutaneous bilirubin measurement can be affected by the child's skin color and fat thickness.
