Patient's question:
I haven't given birth yet and have bilateral congenital nipple inversion. I'm in pre-pregnancy, and I've been using a breast pump to pull out my nipples. My nipples are very large and different from normal ones. Due to the pulling of the breast pump, there is now peeling in the affected area. Is this normal? How can I improve the issue of large and inverted nipples? What kind of help I want: Which breast pump is best for nipple inversion?
Doctor's answer:
If timely correction is needed, the best time to perform the correction is preferably before marriage or in the early stages of pregnancy.1. Manual traction can be performed first. Gently pull the retracted nipple outward, and maintain or intermittently pull the nipple outward to make it protrude.
2. The partner can suck on the retracted nipple.
3. For already established retracted nipples, the most ideal method is to use a nipple corrector, which utilizes the principle of negative pressure to draw the nipple out, or a negative pressure cupping device to gently and repeatedly suction it.
4. If these methods do not correct the issue, surgical intervention may be necessary.
