Features: Know thyself and know thy enemy, and you will win a hundred battles. For postgraduate entrance exams, one important aspect of "knowing thy enemy" is understanding the actual exam questions. The functions of actual exam questions are at least threefold: First, they can help you accurately assess your actual level; second, they can help you understand the content and characteristics of the questions more accurately; third, they can provide reliable evidence for successfully predicting the questions that will appear in the exam. How should actual exam questions be treated? First, from a time perspective, the review can be divided into two stages: In the early stage, do a small number of sets to familiarize yourself with the question types, practice your skills, and briefly assess your foundation and level before review—don’t worry too much about the number of correct or incorrect answers. What is crucial is in the later stage of review, after completing the textbooks and practice exercises, you must thoroughly revisit the actual exam questions. At this point, due to your improved level, you will truly understand the subtleties of the actual exam questions. Otherwise, the effectiveness of reviewing actual exam questions will be greatly reduced. Second, from a methodological perspective, do not look at the answers while solving them, meaning try to follow the actual exam format and requirements as much as possible. After completing them, compare the answers and read the explanations. This way, you will gain more.
Features of this actual exam book: There are already many similar books published in the market. As a latecomer, during the writing process of this book, we have read all these "predecessor" books and have absorbed and integrated their strengths. If you ask us what this book’s features are, I believe two points stand out: First, it is not a name-drop work but one written word by word by three teachers. Specifically, the philosophy section was written by Teacher Suyun; the Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, and the "Three Represents" Important Thought were primarily drafted by Teachers Suyun and Xu Zhiming; the Political Economy, Contemporary World Economy and Politics, and Current Situation and Policies were handled by Teacher Xu Zhiming. Second, it is a book that candidly points out the errors in the actual exam questions. The reason for doing this is that arguing for the wrong answers as correct indeed goes against our capabilities and violates the spirit of science and academic integrity. More importantly, we hope this approach can promote the continuous improvement of exam question quality. After all, the postgraduate entrance exam concerns the significant interests of millions of students. Incorrect exam questions are extremely unfair to serious students, with consequences similar to "favors" or "wrong calls" in sports competitions. The colleagues involved in setting the exam questions include some of my teachers, colleagues, friends, and those I have never met before. I request and believe they can treat our comments with an academic spirit. Without a doubt, if we are wrong, the shame will be on us; at the same time, we warmly welcome their criticism and guidance.
As I write this, a snowstorm is falling over Beijing’s sky. The sky is blanketed in white, the earth is dressed in silver, and all things are nourished. Firecrackers are echoing during the festive season, and spring is coming! I sincerely wish all the students taking the 2007 postgraduate entrance exam success—may they have a "brilliant journey"!
