Features: The first part of the Cisco Networking Academy is a training program launched by Cisco Systems globally, primarily targeting junior network engineering professionals, with its training content similar to that of CCNA. This book is the first part of the written curriculum for the Cisco Networking Academy, with content based on the first two semesters of the Academy's curriculum. As a supplement to the online course, it retains the basic content and features of the online materials. The book covers topics including the OSI reference model, path selection, details of IP routing and address configuration, subnetting, and basic router configuration and operation. Each chapter of the book includes the following useful features: a list of learning objectives covering the entire chapter; hands-on projects to prepare you for practical application; and review questions to help you check your learning progress and focus. This book is suitable as a training textbook for the Cisco Networking Academy, as a supplementary textbook for those preparing for the CCNA certification exam, and is also very helpful for readers who wish to learn basic network technology knowledge.
The second part of the Cisco Networking Academy is a training program launched by Cisco Systems globally, primarily targeting junior network engineering professionals, with its training content similar to that of CCNA. This book is the second part of the written curriculum for the Cisco Networking Academy. It mainly includes the following content: common problems in local area networks (LANs) and their solutions, an overview of VLANs and inter-switch routing, the entire process of LAN design, how to use routers to connect multiple networks, standard and extended access control lists (ACLs), operation and configuration of the Novell IPX protocol, various protocols and technologies used in wide area networks (WANs), an overview of WAN design methods, the basic components, processes, and operations of PPP communication, as well as PPP configuration and verification, the service content, standards, components, operation, and configuration of ISDN, and the service, standards, components, and operation of Frame Relay. Each chapter provides review questions at the end. The book uses the Washington Project as a practical case study to help readers understand and apply the knowledge they have learned, which runs throughout the entire book. During the project, there is also an engineer's diary. Appendix A provides answers to the review questions at the end of each chapter; Appendix B describes and defines the commands related to Cisco router configuration and use; and Appendix C is a glossary that elaborates on the specialized terms and abbreviations used in networking in the book.
