Did I need an ultrasound after the Down syndrome screening?

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting my fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. Do I need to have an ultrasound after having the Down syndrome screening?

Doctor's answer:

B and Down syndrome screening are not the same. If you had a B this month, it would be better to do a 4D color Doppler anomaly scan in about a month. Generally, a Down syndrome screening is done between weeks 13-17 to understand the risk of fetal congenital chromosomal abnormalities. A detailed 3D and 4D color Doppler ultrasound is performed between weeks 22-26 to check if most of the fetal organs have any abnormalities.
