How long after taking birth control pills can you have children?

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting my fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. How long after taking birth control pills can I get pregnant?

Doctor's answer:

Three months. Ovulation is around 15 days before the next menstrual period. If your menstrual cycle is 30 days, ovulation might be around the 23rd. Alternatively, you can buy ovulation test strips to check. The three days before ovulation and the day after have the highest chance of conception. During the first three months of pregnancy, folic acid tablets should be taken orally to prevent neural tube defects in the fetus. Generally, if the menstrual cycle is regular, the day of ovulation is about 14 days before the next menstrual period. The five days before ovulation and the four days after, including the day of ovulation, make up a 10-day period called the fertile window. The rest of the time, except for the menstrual period, is considered the safe period.
