Does pelvic effusion have anything to do with ovarian cysts?

Patient's question:

I have an itchy lower body, and my underwear is always yellow. What's going on? Does pelvic effusion have anything to do with ovarian cysts?

Doctor's answer:

Physiological pelvic effusion often occurs in women after ovulation or in early pregnancy and usually resolves naturally without treatment. Clinically, most pelvic effusions in women are caused by inflammation, resulting from inflammatory exudates in the pelvic cavity. If left untreated, these effusions can gradually increase in size. When they become too large, medication may not be effective, and surgical treatment may be required.
Pathological pelvic effusions are often caused by pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexal inflammation, or endometriosis. The causes of pelvic inflammatory disease and adnexal inflammation are often related to poor hygiene habits, such as sexual activity during menstruation or within one month postpartum, or taking baths in a within one month after gynecological surgery. Medical infections caused by unsterilized artificial abortion or induced abortion can also lead to pelvic effusions.
Chronic infection foci may result from inflammation in the gynecological system, such as in the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or pelvic cavity, leading to pelvic effusions. They may also be caused by tuberculosis or tumors. In rare cases, pelvic effusions may be due to ruptured ectopic pregnancy, corpus luteum rupture, pelvic abscess, chocolate cysts, or ovarian cancer.
